Ans: Mr. Qureshi arrived in London on Monday 16th February 1961 and stayed for six days in Montrose Hotel, London.

Q2; How did Mr. Qureshi book the room in the Hotel Montrose?
Ans: He wrote a letter to the manager of the Hotel Montrose in London to book a room with his name for six days.

Ans: Mr. Qureshi Stayed in Britain for about two months.

Q5: Explain briefly how Saleem and David came to write to each other?
Ans: During his visit to England, Mr. Qureshi went to see his English friend, Mr.Brown. Mr. Brown's son was of the same age as that of Mr. Qureshi's son Saleem. David wanted to know about the living style and customs of Pakistan and as such he offered to exchange letters with Saleem. Mr. Qureshi wrote to Saleem to accept the offer. It was good for both of them to get awareness about the customs of their countries.

Ans:  Qureshi had one daughter and two sons.

Ans: Saleem went to the polo groung which is also called as Bagh-e-Jinnah in order to take part in the congregational prayer. Saleem's brother accompanied him in the congregational prayer on Eid-ul-Fitre.

Ans: Carols are the traditional Christmas hymns. These are the songs of praise to God Carols are sung two or three weeks before Christmas. Little groups of the children carol singers visit homes and collect the money. Some large groups of carol singers including church choirs sing carol songs which seems to be a joy to hear, collect the money for charities.

Ans: Children in England hang up their empty stockings by their beds on Christmas Eve in the hope that Father Christmas will fill these stockings with presents while they are asleep. Their parents keep the presents in the stockings. Children find these presents when they wake up on Christmas morning.

Ans: Its very unusual to have snow in the southern England before January. Snowfall can't be expected in London in the month of December at Christmas, though it gets very dark by five o' clock and the weather is very cold and damp. Cold weather and the fast blowing winds are expected in this month.

Ans: it occurs? No, Easter does not fall on the same date, its date varies with the moon but in Britain it
always occurs in the season of spring.

Ans: The Brown decided not to drive to the seaside on Easter Monday because they had at bitter experience of traffic jam the previous year, the could not enjoy the journey because it was very tedious and they had been held up in traffic jam for few hours.
